Great observation! this kind of 'makeover' would definitely give us a fine looking capital tower! from the picture the dimensions look remarkably similar.

I actually prefer Capital Tower as it is. If it gets a makeover I would like it to be overclad in Portland stone...

capital tower is still my favourite tower in Cardiff. it is sleek, elegant, and it is brutalism done very well indeed.

maybe this post got lost in the other lot, but now its main stream media reporting the bubble.....

Students in Wales taking out loans to afford 'luxury' flats

Its definitely a bubble and will like all bubbles burst.

A studio apartment in the Fusion development on Newport Road, with a cinema, private dining room and gym, costs £177.50 a week - or about £9,000 a year - while a room in a traditional house share can cost under £50 a week.

I've taken this from my very own tweet! ( @cardiffwalesmap )

Image

If you scroll across a bit you'll see 'B' which is number 5 cap qtr. In the new John St Pre app that we've been looking at this tower 'B' crops up all the time and I estimate it to be 105m! Also I heard talk of a 30 storey building proposed for the site off someone who seems to know his onions! I wonder when we'll hear anything on this one!!

Oh and if you are reading this Mr Smart can I urge you to add just one extra floor to whatever you may be constructing at number 5 and then Capital Quarter will have *Wales's tallest building!! ;)

*Well until Hope Street gets going?

I agree, not sure why the proposed towers in cardiff have not just taken them a little higher to get wales tallest back in the capital, need to encourage a little competitive energy

Chicago's skyline is better than New York's. New York's is better than Dubai.

Taller doesn't mean better
