Demolition is well underway on the former EE and Phones4u on Queen Street. The Phones4u is fully demolished leaving the side of Boots fully exposed.

I thought the Phones4u building was quite an old structure judging by its appearance but during demolition it appeared to have a steel frame.

2 key points from Russell goodway's statement to council this month:
Allium Lending Group, a new consumer finance organisation, is going to create a base in Cardiff, up to 100 new jobs

'Canal Quarter' - a new masterplan for the part of the centre that includes Guildford Crescent. Includes public recreation space and reopening parts of the dock feeder. Work in progress, report more in next few months

Rapport family have also withdrawn their application to demolish Guildford Crescent after talks with the council.

Hands up who would love the road to he ripped up to bring back the canal?

Would be nice to have a couple more of these back in action. It's a shame we have neglected our canals unlike Manchester, Leeds, Brum et al

'canal quarter' certainly sounds better than 'feeder quarter'

New plans revealed to further develop Tramshed site:

Plans for a huge seven-storey office and apartment block near Cardiff's Tramshed have been revealed.

The new building is planned on vacant land alongside the Grangetown events venue, and new images show it would tower over the surrounding area.

It would have at least 7,500sq ft of commercial office space on its first two floors, while its third floor would have 16 apartments for residential or work use, and the three top levels will be 12 serviced apartments.

There would be an under-croft on the ground floor for vehicle access to the existing Tramshed.

The original developers of the Tramshed are behind the plans and the new building is seen as phase two of the project.

My god what imbeciles write for Wales online!

This hardly counts as a tower and does not "tower" over the surrounding area.
Looks great to me!

Made me laugh that the picture seems to show countyside all around it too and not the train bridge, rows of houses and even the millennium stadium close by.
