That is a big empty space in the brewery quarter. Shame it's not used for something.

Over the past fortnight they've been marking out all the services and doing surveying along Newport Road between Station Terrace and City Road. Any ideas what's going on? Is it linked to the cycle superhighway or are there other improvements planned?

They did the same on Churchill Way a few weeks before that and some said it was linked to the plans for the Canal Quarter, but perhaps not if they're doing it in other locations.

Apparently the UK distributor of Urban Rigger has met with Cardiff Council planning, Associated British Ports and another party to discuss a development of a floating village on the water of the old Bute East Dock.

It seem the idea is to fill the water with accommodation pods, plus other units containing cafe's, bars and a gym.

Developments of this type have already been constructed or are underway in Copenhagen and Gothenburg.

The above developments have been used for student or affordable housing. Also there is a similar development planned for London docklands.

Good that they're keeping commercial use on the ground floor.

There's a brief video here from the Facebook page of Minty's Gig Guide showing a huge model map of Cardiff. It shows a brief glimpse of 2 large towers, one of which looks like the Hope St tower. The other, even bigger, may be the image that surfaced a few weeks ago on an architects' website.
Does anyone know any more about this model and where it is?
