There's something very depressing about shoehorning social housing onto a site sandwiched between a very busy dual carriageway and a railway line. A private developer probably wouldn't give the time of day to a site where pollution levels must be sky high.

Once more, the most disdvantaged in society are offered sub-optimal homes as their only option.

I dunno, you wait years for a new bus station and then two turn up at once.

Just came across this, I know it was mentioned a while back but here’s a bit more info
At 35 stories it’s gonna make a mark on the Cardiff skyline and in my opinion it’s not a bad looking tower

It does look pretty. But I have a feeing the the contrast in height between that and the surrounding buildings would set off some people....

I like towers, but that would mean the loss of Porter's Bar which would be a massive loss to the Cardiff live music scene. With the loss of Buffalo, GwdiHw, Undertone, The Big Top and Dempsey's in recent years I'm starting to get the impression that the whole proposed 'Music City' thing was all just a load of marketing bluster with no real substance. We can't just have a city centre full of residential buildings. The people who live in them will need somewhere to go in the evenings.

While I agree with you about the brilliance of Porter'sand the attached micro-theatre the current trends in retail suggests that there will be no shortage of possible alternative locations in future.

The council and SWP do need to adopt a more nunaced policy when it comes to licensing independent live music venues though, rather than treating them in the same way as the vertical drinking chains.

This is a good development - this part of city centre is growing skywards and should fit in with 'Canal Quarter' development. A good medium rise development of say 10-12 storey appartments on the vacant plots to the east of the railway line would build up the city centre nicely.
Build it and they will come.
Get it wrong and they will fall off.

Just waiting for the Missery (Wales) online to blast this as this will change the city. "Massive" "looming" and "Giant" might be worth turning their articles into a drinking game. But also what are everyone's guesses as to how tall it'll be?
