VUE 13
Cineworld 15
Premier 6
Odeon 12 ish?
Tramshed 1
Chapter 1
Gate 1
Everyman (?) 4

Chapter has two screens and is planning a third. I'm not sure if the cinema on Penarth Pier is still open - but that's another one!

If Chapter are planning a third, Everyman wanting to open 4 screens and add in the revamp Cineworld has recently done. Business must be good.

I pretty much go every week now because it's so cheap. I mean, it's now £2 per person on a Tuesday and Wednesday with a code. I'm more than happy buying snacks at the venue for that, I'll always buy snacks in Premier as a rule.

The Penarth Pier cinema is indeed still open, largely home currently to showings by these guys...

Pearl of the orient posted on their Facebook recently that they are closing with the unit to become a cinema. Seems an odd one to me but perhaps suitable for 4 luxury screens? Still seems small to me..

I suspect you've solved the mystery! Since it's a landlord driven change it probably involves the unit beneath Pearl of the Orient as well. I think that's Demiro's - always a slightly strange and poorly patronised place.

This suggests the revamp of MQ amounts to more than just some repaving. What's happened so far is more or less a paint job - but it is an improvement.

Interesting...

Unexpected I must say. I wonder what else Mermaid Quay have in mind. They've been holding lots of events in the new square they've created. They clearly have a vision for what they want it to become.

This could be really good news, bringing an extra dimension to the inner harbour.

I would also very much welcome the demise of Demiros. It's incredibly tacky - particularly when they have cheesy, straight out of a 1980s cornetto advert opera singers crooning away outside.

Confirmed. I must say, massive improvement visually.

Looks great! I love it when a development proposal comes from completely left-field like this one.

Sadly, it seems we'll continue to be saddled with the sub- Gio Campario opera lite "entertainment" offering from Demiros for a while yet though.
