Really glad that this is the first non-Metro scheme to get money out of the City-Deal pot.

This could be hugely significant for Cardiff and it's just the sort of investment we need in the post-Brexit world.

According to this, Cardiff Uni are going to start construction of their new student welfare centre towards the end of the year:

Still have mixed feelings about this one.

Usual cock-ups from Media Wales...

The Cardiff "Capita" deal.

Investment in the Heads of the Valleys, including at J34 of the M4(!).

Do they just not have any editorial process? Do their staff just not know the area they are covering? Its just abysmal!

What is currently there does give a sense of space and openness to what is quite a small site.

Yes, with regards to the existing student union building. But I don't the idea of losing the Victorian villas.

My main problem is how overbearing I think it'll feel. Other buildings in Cathays Park are somewhat set back from the roads. This will be quite different.

Have they also sorted out the railway station access, which was also going to be an issue?

According to the Echo the slightly strange Army Medical Museum is still on,but not at the Bay railway station. It's moving across Lloyd George Avenue, next to the Travelodge I presume.

Interesting. In my opinion it would make more sense to use the listed railway station for uh, I don't know, a railway station? It's a radical idea but it may come to be useful when they take the metro down there.

At this stage I'd be happy if they flattened the old station if it meant something impressive in its place. It's an absolute joke, the amount of investment that's gone into the Bay - BILLIONS of pounds, and yet I've seen bigger bus stops.
