This place was an absolute dump and I'm glad it went. Sadly they moved all the rough people to Barry Island.

Redevelopment of Arms Park is back in the news, explains why the news has been slow for this - disagreement over funds. I hope this goes ahead, the stadium could do with a massive face lift, and I'd massively welcome a rugby based museum and extra facilities.

Likewise I'd love to see them realise those ambitious plans for the site. I believe that the Hotel at the end would bite the dust if this all goes ahead. That said I'm not convinced that all parties will come together for this to proceed - for whatever reasons things never run smoothly behind the scenes at Cardiff Arms Park, and Glanmors Gap is testament to that!! As for the anonymous comment that the region would look elsewhere if this doesn't go through - well I'm sure they would, but that's going to mean a new stadium as the Cardiff City ground experiment was a total failure! so.. Fingers crossed that we get this ambitious arms park development moving forward.

The North Stand of the Principality Stadium and it's discord with the rest of the concrete bowl has nothing to with CAC.

They look good. Not earth shattering but I think dense with good materials is probably whats needed here rather than statement architecture all over the place.

It does seem as though the masterplan is dead in the water. There have been a number of proposals for this area from different developers recently. Thats good but I do hope that there is an over arching 'style' be it in terms of material or density so that the area has a bit of consistency. At the moment the northren end is dominated by mediocre beige brick office and the southern end by Century wharf which is a bit of a curates egg. Perhaps the middle bit will be a step up in quality.

However the area gets developed I really hope that there are east west routes from the river to Bute Street. I would be tempted to sacrifice a bit of Canal Park to make sure that there is access otherwise Butetown will become more of an island than it already is.

You know what bit pisses me off:

"All sides based at the stadium must retain Cardiff in their title and wear the team's traditional colours"

Really? After all these years the CAC is still being petty about the team name? After all the problems caused by Cardiff and Llanelli insisting on being 'Super Clubs', CAC still think that the name and colour of the kit of the Blues is enough of an issue to use as a red line? Dragons has dropped Newport, Ospreys dropped Neath-Swansea and the Scarlets dropped Llanelli - whether you think those moves were positive or not (personally I'm glad they did it, although 'Dragons' is a bit of a generic name now, whilst Ospreys and Scarlets are clear brands) is it really the most vital part of this redevelopment? Especially considering that it is one of the main reasons the Blues have struggled to get support outside the capital.
