Confirmation that Howells Solicitors are leaving Hallinans House in July. Hopefully they can start on the 4 towers to replace Hallinans House as soon as possible.
Howells Solicitors are moving to Fitzalan House, not Capital Quarter 3 as some of us anticipated

So the bit of news we've been waiting for to let the student towers at the Hallinans House has arrived. Howells have selected a new office and they are planning on being in by July, so maybe we'll see some activity on the towers this year after all?

EDIT : Owen beat me to it!

Well that is confirmation that Hallinans house will be empty, but due to recent disappointments I shall not get too carried away that we are going to get..

anytime soon! My new belief that a development is actually going to happen is piling. Planning Permission / Demolition / Hoardings just don't cut it for me anymore!!

I can't same I blame you Paul. Those of us that have been on this forum for a while and love tall buildings have shared a few disappointments with you!

I still think something decent will happen at Hope Street for some reason, chasing a dream of a 40+ floor tower for the city I guess!

I was less hopeful with this development at the beginning actually, but seeing as Howells are one of the organisations behind the towers you'd like to think they wouldn't bother relocating to an office just across the road unless they were serious.

We'll see. It's a decent looking development that's for sure.

I should imagine the UHW will grab it with both hands. The Heath site is very constrained by now and with the city's projected population growth they're going to need more land at some stage.

Even if they just built another car park there that would be a huge advance.

I'd imagine Cardiff Uni School of Medicine will be eyeing it up. Welsh Government wants a site for a genomics centre of excellence too.

The site has been acquired by the university. DWP will stay there until 2021.

Maybe plans to reinvigorate the research hub? Originally this was slated to be built on the Dental car park.

Cardiff has made it to the next stage of the Channel 4 HQ race. It's now down to 7 cities. Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Greater Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and West Midlands.

Creative hub only shortlist: Belfast, Brighton, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and Stoke-on-Trent.

Neither Swansea or Neath/Port Talbot made the cut.

Following the awarding of the rail franchise Keolis have announced that they are to relocate their UK HQ from London to Cardiff next year and their export arm will relocate here from Paris at a later date. There are about a hundred jobs involved initially - that's in addition to the 600 extra due to be employed on the rail franchise. Amey are to open a Welsh office with sixty employees.

No word on where exactly either are going.

That's really good news.

I'm not sure what happens lease wise to St. Mary's House on Penarth Road where Arriva currently are, I guess as an organisation they'll no longer need that office seeing as their staff are being transferred across. Will Keolis take the lease for a while as well as taking more space elsewhere?
