Looks like Starbucks will be opening another branch in Queen Street - this time in the lovely art deco building that was previously occupied by Santander and is near to the statue of Aneurin Bevan.

I make that 4 in Queen Street alone plus another three elsewhere in town.....

It's overkill, but I guess that their current stores must be over trading for them to open another one. Worst coffee out of all the chains, no idea why.

The Employment Tribunal is moving out of Caradog House this weekend. That probably means that the work to convert the building to student accommodation is imminent.

Those students need somewhere to spend their loans....
Will the new high rise student blocks have a coffee concession every 10 floors?

In the last couple of days, I had a very interesting conversation with a fellow engineer who is a director at a Cardiff-based consultancy. He was a big vague on precise details (people are a bit guarded when talking competitors), but he was talking about a few 15-20 storey residential developments being planned in Cardiff.

I wish I knew more details, but at the very least I did take it as a positive sign that there are people out there who are interested in investing in large inner-city residential developments sometime in the near future. Things have gone a bit quiet on that front in Cardiff over the last couple of years (offices and student accomodation have taken over) and it gives me some hope that some of the more well-known plans may come to fruition.

One of them will be that cheese-wedge of 20+ storeys with not enough parking space that ABP are promoting - see Mermaid Quay thread.

No, developments in addition to that one.

For sale sign up at the wharf site. I guess the maths didn't quite add up, waste of a pub though.
