I'm a big fan of the design. Hopefully it holds up! This stretch of road will look pretty impressive. Good to see that the work on Eastgate House has commenced too.

Press release from the developer:
Can you spot the B*ll*x

A series of four interconnected blocks of student accommodation have been proposed on the junction of Newport Road and Fitzalan Place in Cardiff.

The four towers range between 11 and 32 storeys tall and have been earmarked at a site next to the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel.

In total, the development will consist of 464 student bedrooms.

Under the plans the five-storey Hallianans House will be demolished to make way for the new blocks, which will be a clad in a mix of lead, copper, graphite and zinc.

According to developers, the plans will "provide a landmark building of stand out quality and provide a distinctive and positive addition to the city's skyline."

With all that stuff on the outside, students will able to make their own batteries.

The new student tower has been approved.

We will know if they are serious if we hear about hallinans moving into new offices in the not too distant future

Noticed diggers, dumpers etc between the existing phase of cardiff pointe and the yacht club today moving earth etc so maybe a long awaited start to the next phase - think they have probably been waiting for penalty heights to near completion so reduce the competition.

Anyone confirm?
