Bit of internet search tells me it's a well known American brand. Don't really know what the fuss is with that but I do like to claim I was one of the first people in the UK to eat in Subway.

They are a big company internationally Frank, so people are excited to have them in the city just like they were with Krispy Kreme, Shake Shack etc.
There's quite a few US chains we don't have at home that are elsewhere in the world, not sure if it's just that they are in London and haven't expanded to Wales and maybe not other major UK cities yet or they haven't tried the UK yet? I've not been regular enough in the centre of London to notice over the last few years.
There's certainly loads of US brands here in the UAE just as if it's an American City. They love US junk food and other popular American brands here.
I'm not sure why people get
SO excited though. I can understand really looking forward to something coming that you've had while living somewhere else or being on holiday, but the queuing for hours stuff baffles me.
