A planning application has gone in for the Scope shop next to Pulse on Churchill Way. Change of use to A3 (Food & Drink, Restaurant, Delicatessen & Snack Bar). The shop closed down over lockdown.

Seems sensible in the long term given the canal quarter plans.

The covering letter states it will be "operating as a delicatessen, restaurant and sandwich bar with internal and external seating plus takeaway element".

By The Sea by Alana Spencer is the latest signing announced for Mermaid Quay. The cafe is due to open in April/May.

Looks like it's going in the old wine bar, two doors down from Costa. Five coffee shops within a minutes walk of each other, plus Gregg's. Awful lot of coffee in Cardiff Bay.

A couple has transformed a former Chinese takeaway in Grangetown into a new street food restaurant and boutique hotel.

Husband and wife Tudor and Caroline Barber recently opened Neighbourhood Kitchen and want the spot to be somewhere guests can come “and live like a local.”

The building on Tudor Street had been a Chinese takeaway for 30 years, but it had been listed to let for over two years and sat unoccupied.

This is at least the third time that WalesOnline journalists have put Tudor Street in Grangetown. Their Hq is so close to Riverside that one would think they’d know the difference between the two areas, but seemingly not.

Considering most Wales Online articles are probably written in Leeds, or somewhere, we should probably count ourselves fortunate they didn't say it was in Swansea

To be fair, while Tudor Street is in the Riverside ward and would be regarded as Riverside by most Cardiffians, estate agent hype causes a lot of confusion. As they've done in other parts of the city, house sellers and business owners are pushing out the boundaries of 'upcoming' and 'fashionable' Grangetown.

Purists might point out that historcally the suburb south of Riverside is actually Saltmead while Grangetown's traditional northern boundary is in fact Penarth Road.
