Also should say WalesOnline is carrying a piece saying Benihana, which is a US chain of Japanese Tepanyaki restaurants, where food is cooked at live stations in front of customers (who sit around the edge) is considering expanding in the UK, with Cardiff as an option:

Good luck to the franchisee, it's a tough, very crowded market, maybe they have a USP. And calm your farm WalesOnline, 40 locations in Wales will probably never happen and any expansion depends very much on how the first few sites trade.

splendid, and no surprise. the food, service and preference for locally supplied produce is excellent.
I'd rather be no one than someone with no one.

Looks like Chai Street are opening up in High Street (the unit recently vacated by the La Bodega tapas bar).

Thats a bit of relief as High Street is looking somewhat bereft at the moment. Cranes have gone, Bella Italia has gone, the unit recently occupied by a bric a brac shop is empty as are the units previously occupied by Barbucci, Clive Ranger, Floyds and at least two others off the top of my head.

Apparently Cranes are just relocating upstairs, with a new focus on vintage and second-hand trading. Could be a good move for them now that the new PMT store has opened up just down the road.

I quite the idea of the best restaurants being outside of town. I guess it isn't great for visitors but without sounding corny, restaurants are best as part of the local community.
