Well it doesn't inspire confidence in the website. Here's a "quote":

"Visitors to Cardiff will be charmed by the native customs of the city's people who provide a real English welcome. For those looking to eat out and get a taste of the local cuisine, there are many traditional English restaurants serving the finest fare that this corner of Blighty can offer. From English lamb in the warming stew Cawl, to faggots and peas, tasty Englishcakes cooked on a griddle or seaweed served with the famous English cockles, Cardiff will satisfy all appetites."

Looks like Greenwood and Brown on Quay Street is shutting down and the people Behind Bar 44 are working with Brains to take it on:

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/f ... s-12290422

The team behind award-winning tapas restaurant Bar 44 is to open a fourth location in Cardiff, specialising in Spanish 'asador' cooking as well as having dedicated wine and cheese rooms. This brand new venture is set to introduce a style of Spanish dining not seen before in Wales.

The new restaurant, Asador 44, will be the first in Wales to specialise in ‘asador’-style cooking, which will involve chargrilling the world’s finest meat, fish and vegetables over charcoal and wood.

The Bar 44 Group already has locations in Cowbridge and Penarth and opened its first Cardiff restaurant in 2015.
Due to the success of Bar 44 in Cardiff the brothers behind the group, Owen and Tom Morgan, have decided to open another restaurant in the capital.

They have struck a deal with SA Brains to open in Spring 2017 on Quay Street, Cardiff at the site of the brewery's Greenwood & Brown diner, which was launched five year's ago as Brains' first standalone restaurant but will close in the New Year.

Marstons who own LOCKE & REMEDY were offered a significant amount of money by Virgin Bank to take over the lease. As business at LOCKE & REMEDY fluctuates, Marstons sold the lease without giving it a second thought! We can expect to see Virgin Bsnk take over this half of the building in the coming months...An absolute shame!

Barriers already going up across the city. :?
Road lanes now out of action by Callaghan Sq
Cardiff open for business....
This has the look of the NATO summit about it, one thing you don't hear when abroad is people saying how much they enjoyed the NATO summit in South Wales.
There must be easier ways to get Cardiff on the Map.

The "barriers" are to ensure vehicles don't get anywhere near the city centre on that day, for reasons I'm sure are obvious. They're not to stop pedestrians getting around. The only real road closures for pedestrians are Westgate Street and one side of Tudor Street bridge a few hours before and after the game starts.

Milk & Sugar are taking over the cafe concession in the Hen Lyfrgell and a tourist information desk is now co-located in the Bodlon unit. Both good moves, I think. Not having a TIC in the city centre was pretty shocking.

Annoying that many people from abroad may still be unable to tell the difference between England and Britain. However there does rather remain an attitude that whilst we don't know much about the rest of the world, the rest of the world ought to know a lot about us. We could also do with admitting that whilst we might think we're very different to the English, to outsiders we're really very similar - the narcissism of small differences and all that.

Cocktail bar to open in the former Barbucci in High Street -

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/business/c ... s-13097219

The Sea Food Shack is due to open soon opposite (former Cranes) and another bar is due to open just up the road (unit next to Floyds that has been empty for eons. I also read somewhere that Barker have applied for a late licence so that they can serve alcohol and have a night time offering.

I see this as the only way forward for High Street. As a retail destination it can only attract niche outlets (gaming shop, curtain place and kitchen outlet) or professional services.

I hope it stays relatively upscale. We have enough volume type outlets at the south end of St Mary St.

Veeno - the Italian Wine Cafe - is due to open in Cardiff bay next month. In the unit opposite Bills, that used to be Mimosa/Funky Panda/Quayside.
