Tim Hortons have a planning app for a third Cardiff outlet at 41-43 Albany Road. WTF??! An admirable show of confidence in the insatiable appetite of Cardiffians for coffee and dougnhuts or running before they can walk?

Talking of insatiable appetite for mass produced crap Greggs appear to be the first to take one of the units on the ground floor of the new BBC building in Central Square (they will be situated opposite the phantom bus station/offices/student resi). I fully expect one of Costa/Cafe Nero/Starbucks to take up one of the other units with Coffee No 1 an outside bet.

On a related note Chai Street will be opening their 4th Cardiff outlet in Wellfield Road in the near future. Once opened they will have branches in Cardiff Bay, Canton, city centre and Roath. If expansion continues at this rate could they be one of the few Cardiff/Welsh food and drink businesses that break into the English market?

Greggs will be losing a store across the road once St.Davids House is demolished. I wonder where the Tesco will end up? It's always busy in there...

Well they're staying put for a fair while in the only half of St Davids House that will be left standing! Aren't they a significant reason that only half of that building is being demolished? Maybe it'll get a make-over or it's gonna look a pretty sore thumb!!

Wait, what?

So everything around it will be brand spanking new and a part of St.Davids House will be in the middle? What a bad decision that is...

I heard that Tesco won't vacate as they signed a long lease. It would be a shame to keep that ugly building just for a Tesco express. It's not like there aren't other stores in town, St. Mary St express is minutes away.

Such a shame.

I was looking forward to nice sized green park area, and instead we will half half a shoddy building left...

Hold on. Tesco haven't been in there particularly long. In fact, when they moved in, we already knew the long term plans were for demolition, as I remember commenting about it. Don't tell me Tesco were allowed to sign a lease that extended beyond the timescales for those plans, surely?

Amazing. I was only walking past this last week and thought somebody could do something with it being such prime land. This is great to see. I knew there was a reason that the strip club vanished! Ha!

Just had a quick google of the Botanist. http://thebotanist.uk.com/

Cardiff has certainly come a long way from a Clarkes pie and half a Dark. ;)
