US fast food chain ‘Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen’ are due to open in Cardiff early next year. The restaurant will occupy 6-7 St John Street (the building that was previously occupied by Brighthouse)

Burger King have also submitted a planning application to open a new restaurant on Queen Street. Burger King will occupy the building previously occupied by Samsung (subject to planning approval).

So they closed their Queen Street restaurant on the opposite corner to M&S just to open a new one 2 years later next to M&S....bit of a waste of money and time.

Is Jolibee that replaced the BK a franchise owned by Union Burger (BK franchisee) I wonder?

Browns restaurant opening in Marriot Hotel mid-February. Judging by the website it's a couple of months late as it says "in time for festive season".

Really like the look of that, will be good to have something different the Bay, can see it being really popular.

There was supposed to be a box park development around the graving dock just behind that site a few years ago and nothing came of it (like too many Cardiff proposals).

It sounds vert similar to Wapping Wharf in Bristol which is great.

My one concern is that it's in a slightly out of the way location.

I see that Pilgrims Pizza is opening in the old RBS on Castle Street/High Street. Many will (and have) agrue(d) that there are better alternatives. However, there's always room for some competition and the people who prefer independent will continue to support those. The filling of that prominent unit is really good news and important...
