Great more student flats!!

but seriously folks... That's good news, what would be truly amazing news would be progress on the arena or will a certain pandemic change that ambition? hope not as that could presumably have a direct impact on the future development of motorpoint arena site and perhaps even guildford crescent :?:

My understanding on the arena is that a preferred partner will be appointed in October, full planning in April 2021, construction starts Nov 2021, opens on April 2024. Sited on the car park of the County Hall.

It looked very nice down there yesterday and a lot of restaurants catching up on lost time! Giovanni's struck me as a very good socially distanced option, and with the reflection it caught my eye! Little did I know that a CardiffWalesmap forummer was in the thick of the action!! Hope you and your wife had an enjoyable meal! :)

Yes thanks it was very nice. We chose it for the reason you said. Plenty of space which gave a real comfortable and safe feel. They have done well there. The manager did tell us he has more umbrellas on order As quite a few people were asking for a table but leaving as they didn’t want to sit in the sun.

I walk through Mermaid Quay most days and whilst it’s nice to see pavement, lighting and planting works are progressing quite quickly, the whole area still looks quite sad and desolate on a rainy day. Ladbrokes has now closed completely. Ridiculously Rich has also closed and in my opinion was never going to work as the windows were always covered over so it never looked open. Plus virtually everything else in that unit has failed. Brew Monster has also closed. There appeared to be some activity a few doors down from Ladbrokes (not sure what is happening there) and there were a lot of people going in and out of what used to the The Crepe Escape - again, not sure what is going on there either. On a positive note, work seems to be progressing on the new Botanist (The Clubhouse). Hopefully when this is up and running it will act as a catalyst for more openings in the development…

The Dogs Trust has opened in what I think was the crepe escape. It's a temporary thing linked to the snoopy trail.
Brew Monster website says that it is going to re-open. I'm not convinced though.

Very Interesting! :) mind you that site has been empty for a very long time already. If the new arena starts progressing then maybe the area will get a boost and 1 version of this development may get underway?
