I walk past the Big Windsor nearly every day. The rate the building work is going "move in this summer" is very optimistic. Haven't seen anyone there this week, it wasn't exactly speedy before the lockdown.

I like the imagined roof terrace in the Bank development. Though I hope whoever buys it knows how windy this part of the world is otherwise their furniture will be visiting the surrounding roads every couple of weeks. The building looks nice though. Pleased to see it restored.

I've not known it as a pub, more known recently as Spice Merchants and Juboraj

I can't ever remember it as a functioning pub, that must have been years ago. I lived in the bay between the mid nineties to 2003 and I'm sure it was derelict already in the mid nineties. It was empty for years wasn't it until it was converted into the restaurant?

I can remember it open as a pub - just! That was in the late 70s / early 80s. At that time it had something of a bad reputation but as a stone plaque on the building records in the post-war period it had a reputation for fine dining with Cardiff's first French restaurant.

The really impressive docklands pub was the original Mount Stuart which stood opposite the old post office / Merchant Place more or less where the Sainsbury's Local is now. It was a classic victorian "gin palace" with fantastic wood and glasswork. It was demolished around the time Butetown tunnels were built and I think I'm right in saying that some of the original bars, mirrors etc were saved and installed in the Heath pub.

That's right. My grandfather, the artist and sculptor Jonah Jones carved the plaque to pay tribute to the work of the chef Abel Magneron.

I went to the Big Windsor on a work pub crawl which couldn't have been earlier than 92/93, so it was still open then (just about).

Proposed extension to the Mermaid Quay car park was granted today. It will now become 4 floors with the amount of parking doubled with an additional 20 EV spaces and cycle hub. Completed face lift and an impressive £250,000 S106 contribution towards active travel infrastructure.
