Under the proposals Britannia Park would get a facelift.

Yes, that is one way to put it!

Forget "the Wedge" as a nickname. I propose "the Escalator".

I like it, something different and that the eastern part of the Bay needs to kickstart its development.

I love it - unfortunately we all know it will look nothing like this.
This is an early artistic render to gain interest and press attention, the final design will have a sloping roof of sorts but will be far less dramatic (and probably about 5 storeys smaller!)

The more I look at it the more I appreciate its design. The shape does a lot to minimise the impact on the Norwegian Church. I'm not too sure about the multiple smaller developments around it though. I'd rather the area didn't become too densely packed.

Also, does anyone have any idea what the small green towers sticking out of the top are supposed to be? They were present in the initial images but placed in different locations.

Some recent news -

Bristol based Kong bar is opening in Cardiff -

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/f ... s-12206916

I think this is going in what was Browns, the subterraenean bar under Hodge House. The latest in a long line of Bristol based outlets that are colonising Cardiff - Turtle Bay, Loungers, Urban Standard etc. Other than a hanful of Brains pubs and Coffee No 1's are there any Welsh chains making inroads into the west country market?

Also I walked past what used to be Bella Italia in High Street and there is a sign saying that something called the 'Hashery' will be opening soon. Can't find any info on this although the sign in the window helpfully states that it will be serving cocktails and food.

Museum of Military Medicine

Not sure I've seen this anywhere before but it has a brief mention in today's autumn statement:

There's a new sushi place being fitted out in what was a coffee shop next to Subway in Mermaid Quay. Small unit, looks like it might be mostly takeaway and not sure how it will do with Yakitori (posh sushi),Ba Orient (posh sushi and cocktails) and Tesco (cheap sushi) all within 100 yards, but anything's better than another coffee shop - and if it is more authentic than Tesco and cheaper than the other two, it'll have my custom.
