The college post I linked above also mentions student accomodation roughly in that area I think

That development will secure the old buildings and fill a giant gap in Cardiff bay.

Costa Coffee appears to have closed. A bit surprising, it usually looked busy when I went past.

Like it or loath it I think it’s a shame that the Premier Inn down the bay it is already showing signs of ware and tear.

Poor workmanship or just poor materials there’s a big crack running through the brick/tile cladding. Very unsightly and only going to get worse.

Walking past The Bay Brasserie and Bellinis I’m Mermaid Quay yesterday evening there are notices in the window saying they have both closed. They are both owned and operated by Signor Valentino’s which is adjacent. It will be interesting to see if they have been surrendered because they have been acquired for a larger operator or have just closed. Just as the area seems to be picking up following its refurb, this is definitely a step backwards. Bit of a shame really but never saw them super busy except on weekends or during special events or school holidays.

Terrible plans. We need homes in the area not more students, it's a continual stream of school children as it is.
Ugly new buildings that jar with the surrounding area and partial demolition of a listed building. Cardiff Council will love it.

In the last month three businesses have closed in mermaid quay. That's not going to be fixed by this plan.

Well, they've been vacant for years, but no one's turned them in to homes, have they?
