I do like this building and I understand the sort of floor plates that offices need. But there's always a risk that the building ends up looking a bit dumpy and shorter than it actually is. A bit like the Admiral buildings. I really like the design of that but it would look even better with say 5 extra floors.

86m is taller than Capital Tower, but it looks shorter than that.

It's all about proportions. High-rise office buildings in other countries tend to get it right and they fit in well with high-rise apartment buildings which tend to have smaller floor plates.

Well I didn't expect that! I genuinely thought that after the HMRC decision to go to Central Square that we wouldn't hear anything for ages (after they would finish Number 5) and when we did it would be mid-rise offices. I thought it would be a few years. I wonder if they have any interest in the hotel?

Something else interesting is in the Design & Access statement they mention a 23 floor building at Capital Quarter, so a tall building on the remaining number 5 plot might still be on the cards as well.

Yes I thought we'd lost this one! but it's come back as an even more exciting prospect. It's quite early days yet but this proposal in this location would be great. All we need now is some news that Hope St is still alive?

At 99m that would make a nice addition to the Cardiff skyline

FANTASTIC!!! I've always liked this scheme and I think now it looks even better and it's taller.

Great to see more hotel rooms planned. We've got Indigo opening soon and 2 new Premier Inn's in development (won't mention the Custom House add on!). Maybe rooms will be available for less than £700 when there's a major event on one day.

Wow! The hotel element is great news too. I have a lot of confidence that all the towers in this area will come off. It should be a pretty impressive cluster for a British city.

No pics of railway arches in use but reading it their use is still in their plans. They have increased the space outside them. Would love for these to be used like you see in manchester and Leeds.
