£4m to be spent on Cardiff Airport upgrading its terminal building and car parking facilities in time for next Summer. I'm sure Qatar have been a big influence in this!

- Costa Coffee outlets at departures and arrivals
- Executive lounge expansion
- Additional seating areas in depatures
- Increased retail space, specifically a large WH Smith
- Upgrading the hold baggage screening system to meet enhanced security requirements
- New ‘meet & greet’ car parking for customers with a dedicated area for drop off and pick up close to the terminal building
- New car hire centre close to the terminal building

This is all massively welcomed in my opinion. Roll on CWL!

After cancelling the daily flight to London, it is good to see the new multi-billion Cardiff to London trains get off to such a flying start.

This story about the women being the only person on a flight!!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-g ... t-41748305

Many years ago I flew into Cardiff on Boxing day and was the only person on the flight, smallish plane so not a big deal.
You had to pay attention to the safety briefing as she was just starring at me.

On landing my hold baggage was unloaded immediately and I saw the chap wheeling the baggage cart, I asked; was there many planes in today?
He said you are the only one, on the only flight, they have to stay open as its an emergency airport for diversions etc.!

I lent over to take my bag as we were walking to the terminal and he shouted to leave it, that I would have to pick it up from the baggage belt, which I did bizarrely 30 second later.
I also remember that my car was parked in the long term and they wanted to know where I had come from as there weren't expecting anyone today.

It amazes me that there's not a single link with Poland from Cardiff. There's a massive Polish population amongst the South - East Wales area. Has a polish route ever existed at the airport?

Yes. bmibaby use to fly to Gdansk and Warsaw. I think Cardiff could entice Wizzair to Cardiff to operate some polish routes to compete with Ryanair at Bristol.

easyJet also fly to Krakòw from Bristol, recently used the service too. The next short haul flights I'd love to see are Iceland and A polish route.
