I'm not sure how up to date this link is but at the moment the tallest is a 33 story tower in London

I guess it's still a title to hold?

Cardiff - The Capital City of Wales. Home to the indoor boxing attendance record and the world's tallest student accommodation building. Ha!

Goodness me, that construction site.. It's so small for such a tall tower.

This is one hell of an engineering project!

Actually the Engineering is easy. It is the logistics that will be hell ...
Build it and they will come.
Get it wrong and they will fall off.

Thinking about it, you are correct in saying logistics! I guess the engineering is pretty much the same as any other building, but soil disposal, material storage etc. will probably have to be on another site, and then everything transported between the two. That alone probably adds about 3 months to the construction time of the tower.

What stage are we at with this one now? Has piling commenced?

They are doing enabling works for a while, I think piling starts in the new year.

They've been really busy these last few weeks clearing things from the site, building a new wall and railings near the path that goes under the Bute Street bridge etc.

They seem to be putting up a wooden frame today, presumably for new hoardings around the site.

So lots of visible daily progress on site actually, just a while until we get to seeing piling and what I guess will be a monster crane on-site.

The crane will be mental. Am I right in saying its too tall to have a tower crane extending the entire height? Will they have to jack it to the side of the building?
