This is why Planning needs to become a compulsory form of education - possibly as a module of Geography GCSE. The people commenting on Wales online is what you get as a result of a nationwide lack of knowledge on the subject.

Reading some of the Facebook comments about Central Quay:

"Dont get rid of the brains building!!! its iconic to cardiff!!!! Disgraceful" - Did they even read the article?

"Yet more offices being built in the city centre! We need houses!" - Like, where do I even start with that one? Why would they build low-density residential properties in a prime city centre location? These things trigger me.

Hurry up and get it built. The city centre has been crying out for a tangible and substantial business and financial services quarter. Along with Central Square, it will finally give Cardiff a proper, fully rounded CBD imo, not just a large shopping precinct with some other stuff attached to it.

Looks like Brains have found an alternative site -

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/business/b ... n-13932731

Planning app in the next couple of weeks with a view to commencing brewing on the new site at the beginning of 2019. The article also states that Brains will have a visitor centre, micro brewery and pub in the older existing buildings.

That's good news and hopefully means that Central Quay phase 1 has every chance of commencing - looking forward to seeing the planning apps for the first 3 buildings early next year.

For some reason I thought the visitor centre would be at the new site. The fact it's staying at the original site really excites me. That should add a lot to Cardiff, people love a brewery type attraction. Looking forward too it.

I wonder if all 3 buildings in the first phase will commence at the same time or if they will submit separate planning applications for each?

Damn, this is happening quicker than expected.

What's first, the bus station or the first Central Quay building?
