Having recently surveyed this tower, I'm now perhaps more neutral on the resulting cladding. I still can't believe how vastly it differs from the renders, and while I'm not necessarily a fan, it doesn't look god awful, just highly disappointing.

However, now the building is mostly up to core level, I do think it looks a bit stubby and, I think it could've used a few extra floors of height (say around 5), as parts of this tower are very wide. It looks a bit stocky to me, and not in a good way.

I had a walk up Charles street this evening and it looked decidedly skinny from this angle, I think it differs vastly from the render but then i expected it, its even worse than i expected but that being said it is still relatively decent for a student tower and Cardiff's existing tall buildings.

Thanks Paul, really appreciate the photo updates while I'm away. Not back until either March or May for my first visit home so miss being able to walk around town and keep an eye on progress of all the developments.

I get it that the cladding looks different from the renders - but it's perfectly fine. I really don't understand why people have a downer on this scheme.

It's a pretty attractive building which adds some much needed bulk to the city centre while providing a live street frontage in what was a totally dead area. What's not to like?

Agreed. Now I’ve gotten over how different it looks I can actually appreciate it for what it is. It’s certainly a step up from what used to be the norm in Cardiff.

At last some recognition of what's going to be a very nice building and a great addition to our skyline!! From the first time I saw the plans in the radisson blu I was very pleased that this building was going to be constructed in Bridge St. Ok the cladding has had a tweak but I'm still of the opinion that it's shaping up nicely!
