Over the festive period (2 weeks) Cardiff Airport is having its busiest period for 7 years expecting to handle over 30,000 passengers. Passenger numbers for 2017 are expected to have increased 10% from 2016.

Very encouraging!

Wow. Having lived in KL for a few years, that price is incredible. Return flights home for us were nearly always 800-1200 pounds with BA, Emirates or Malaysian and would usually land at London so required a long drive/train home.

Or the real reason that Cardiff Airport has been effected by fog all day with some planes in the hold for up to 2 hours to land.

Qatar Airways are now recruiting for 7 new permanent full-time jobs to be based at Cardiff Airport, mainly managerial positions.

They seem to be going all out for this.

That's a lot of salaries for one daily flight, how many ground staff do FlyBe have?

It started from a low base granted, but an increase like that each year is pretty decent. It's improving, that's what matters. Next year's figures will be very interesting when we know how the Qatar airlines flights have done in their first year. I really hope Qatar sorts out it's differences with it's neighbours as it will be a real help having connections into other Gulf countries for so many people.

I'm curious about how the KLM flights are doing these days because the options for using it to return home from Dubai are nowhere near as good as it used to be a few years ago with some of the return legs having long stopovers in Paris, although I do know plenty of people still using it.

A connection into a USA hub would be good now.

I've used it half a dozen times in the past year to fly to the far east and Australia and it's always been pretty full.

KLM flights as usual are holding very well. Since the 70 seat f70 aircraft have left their fleet Cardiff is now operated by 3 daily 88 seat E175 aircraft. Since this has happened passenger numbers on KLM have increased to the point some people believe they maybe looking at introducing a 4th daily flight.

I caught the KLM flight today and connected to Newark. There were maybe 60 people on the plane? Not bad for a 6am flight on a Wednesday in January. The Delta flight from Amsterdam to Newark only had 74 people on board!
