David,

Thank you for your email. I advise that Igloo’s involvement in Porth Teigr ended on 30th June. All enquiries should be directed to the Welsh Government.

I think we have the proximate cause for f* all happening at Porth Teigr. The underlying cause is less clear. Demand not matching the cost of building the developments? Lack of capacity at Igloo to take forward? Welsh Govt being too interfering?

Anyone want to contact Welsh Govt to see what their plans might be?

I can't imagine why Igloo failed to get anything moving here, maybe the Welsh Government lost patience with the lack of progress. There are enough visitors to the bay to make commercial developments here feasible.

What a massive disappointment Igloo have been. It must be over 10 years since they took control of this site and Mark Hallet certainly (initially) talked the talk about sustainable investment and creating a genuine urbanism, influenced by developments in Scandinavia, in this area of the bay.

Securing Roath Lock studios was a great early success and the Gloworks development is a small glimpse of what might have been (and could still be) if the developers had managed to generate some real momentum. Ultimately though, you can only conclude that Igloo failed in this endeavour. I only hope that the Welsh Government does not compromise on Igloos original ambitions for the site.

I'm really disappointed in Igloo as well. I was really into this project, but they've done very little since the BBC Drama Studios, with the Welsh Government having to help get the first GloWorks building up and running. Surely any decent developer could have funded that small office on their own with the demand from small technology companies in Cardiff being half decent. Likewise the housing, you'd think there was demand for housing there?

I think BBC Wales picking Central Square instead of it going down there hasn't helped, but whatever happened to that second GloWorks building and the homes that went through planning? Something doesn't add up for me.

Hopefully the Welsh Government can pick up a developer for the site, maybe even bring in one of the two or three local developers that have done well in Cardiff recently to lead it.

Nothing for ages on Porth Teigr, but confirmation that Igloo are going to be out of the picture and that it's now in Welsh Government hands.

It's a real shame, but I think it suffered from not getting the BBC Wales HQ in part, but I'm not sure why they didn't press ahead with the homes or with the second GloWorks building seeing as the first one did okay.

That's interesting, at least something may happen on the site now if igloo no longer involved? Maybe the dolphin quay triangle building will re-appear for construction where dr. who is!!! :o

Anyone heard anything about Port Teigr?

Seems a long time ago that the we're promising europe's largest waterfront development.

The BBC studios, Gloworks and Royal Navy building look all very sorry surrounded by all that brownfield land. Especially now Doctor Who gone as well.

The website for http://www.porthteigr.com/ was taken down years ago. Such a shame.

What we we're promised vs what was delivered! No wonder nobody wants to build there!
