Noticed today that there’s a licensing application for Loungers at the old Strada unit in Cardiff Bay. Loungers are the people behind Cosy Club on the Hayes.

It's good to see a bar rather than a restaurant going there, Mermaid Quay is a bit restaurant centric at the moment. With the Everyman cinema too it's becoming a bit more mixed use.

Good move. Cardiff Bay suffers from a diverse lack of bars. This would be a good addition.

Cosy Club is a restaurant primarily though - why are we assuming it's a bar?

They also run the various "Lounges" dotted around Cardiff and Penarth - Juno, Fino, Octo etc. Although they do serve food these are primarily bars. It will be interesting to see what sort of format they go for with this new venture. I agree that a bar would be very welcome here.

The Loungers are all bars with a strong food offer but not restaurants like Cosy Club.

Sad to hear about the Meating Place. I only ate there once but I thought it was pretty good - in spite it's terrible name. I also like the idea of more restaurants (as opposed to bars) on St Mary Street, as part of a wider mix of businesses to make the street feel safer and more family friendly at night time. Hopefully we'll see more of a move in that direction once the BBC and other offices around Central Square are opened.

I wish so much they would bring back a Hard Rock Café. It was out of the blue they closed it. Maybe, with Cardiff now on the up they could re-open in the near future with a better locality in the city, ie Central Quay :)
I could just see the Hard Rock Café neon sign down the side of the chimney, now that would look so amazing :)
