Thought Police? - hardly, but you've got a knack of winding everyone up - in all fairness everyone has been very polite on here and I rarely need to intervene. You are antagonistic and usually at the centre of this place becoming less pleasant :| oh and resort to swearing when it's generally not encouraged here.

Anyway I'm sorry to be guilty of veering off topic but couldn't let yet another barbed comment go un-noticed and needed to give my feelings on behaviour I think visitors to my forum probably expect.

The Wales Sub reddit has an interesting link to a leaflet delivered to neighbouring areas regarding the redevelopment of the terminal and a consultation

so something is moving forward but probably at a snails pace

Interesting to see that the Masterplan has a path to be kept clear in the hope of a future rail link.

You can download the whole pdf from the Cardiff Airport website. They had a big display in the departures lounge just over a week ago when I was there. There's public events in the upcoming weeks in Cardiff and Barry to present the draft plans and to hold a open Q&A. Dates etc on the website.

Ryanair are starting a new route to Malta from late April next year. I believe it'll be twice weekly.

To really start growing Cardiff Airport need Ryanair to add more routes, even Bournemouth airport have 7 routes. Or easyJet to add a few. I'm not sure what's being done to entice them if anything but I feel we'll have slow growth for a few years after this otherwise.

I think it's difficult because both EasyJet and Ryanair run the majority of routes from Bristol. Ryanair seem to be adding one route a year.

I suspect Ryanair are testing the market. The breakthrough would come if they chose to base one or more planes at Cardiff. The problem for both Ryanair and Easyjet, as Lewis points out, is that by increasing sevices from Cardiff they risk canabalising their Bristol operations.

I think its more likely that we'll see a smaller budget operator like Jet2 establish a base at Cardiff. The real game changer though would be Norwegian, who are snapping at Ryanair and Easyjet's heels in terms of passenger numbers and who also do long-haul and Trans-Atlantic flights.

August statistics are in:

202,405 passengers used the airport up 11.1%. The rolling year was 1,548,474 up 8% on 2017.

11,568 passengers used the Qatar route. That's an average of 187 per flight (74.8%).
