WOH! WHAT!! are we getting a new bus station!!

I hear and share your frustration LB! I mean there's a reasonable amount of activity on site without it feeling like it's fully underway? In the last week or so hoardings have been erected isolating the site from the BBC. I'm wondering if the whole of Central Sq minus the bus station site is very close to being opened with full pedestrian access? Meanwhile at the Bus station site surely full on construction 'a la HMRC' can't be far away? Come on, there must be someone reading this with some more info on this... ;)

And then only half of it - or has that changed? I don't know about inside the building but at ground level only tesco's will remain. I'm no demolition expert but only demolishing half the building when all of it is planned to be flattened seems crazy! I've never been a big St David's house fan and in our 'new look' central sq. area it clearly has no place. So I'm hoping that it all gets the chop in January. Maybe with it's demise we will soon hear details of that last plot? The flagship of the whole development? Nestled in the middle of central sq. something like the Beetham tower I'd be fine with!! ;) Actually in all the early renders of Central Square this plot was always earmarked for something at least taller than the BT building.

I think it's all of it now, weren't Tesco the main sticking point? With them moved into Central Square surely all of it can go?

The last plot is another office, I think the height of the HMRC building maximum. It was kind of related to another public sector office at one point (DWP), but they are going to Nantgarw now. It wouldn't shock me if there's nothing lined up yet at all.

Yes Kyle - I think you're right about that last plot :| no ambition!! we need a bit of Dubai spirit although even I must concede that a Burj Khalifa may look a little out of place here!! (My nephew was over there and went up that tower last week - He loved Dubai but £10 for a 330ml bottle of beer - I'd struggle)

There's a lot of crap going up here as well Paul there always has been, some projects started and half constructed as well.

It's far from perfect, but there is also some amazing things granted. It's not much of a hardship living here as a Skyscraper fan!

The whole public space in front of the station is shaping up really well I think. The scale of the BBC building feels right, and the open space is generous and square-like without feeling to open and windswept. And this can only get better when the bus station is built. Also great to sit in the new Pret and look across the public space to the station building in all its glory. Starting to have a real big city feel about it.
