General Developments

I'm usually very supportive of development but I hate this in this location. Would be fine in the city centre or as part of Central Quay but too out of character for Grangetown imho, and could also threaten the Tramshed in unforeseen ways.

I quite like it and the height is no big deal. It's more or less the same height as the student blocks on the old Avana site.

Does anyone know of any updates regarding the student accommodation towers at Fitzalan place? I know demolitions have started but just wondering whether the project is still alive!

There is already student accom. at windsor place - quite substantial if not very high.
Do you mean Park Place? on the corner - I notice that Cardiff demolition are poised to knock it down pretty soon. Surely to get to this stage and to actually demolish existing structure means a reasonable chance that proposed 17storey tower will be built there.

But yes all seems a little quiet on that one. The existing buildings are completely vacated which presumably means some commitment to that development. However with Howard gardens underway and herbert st nearing completion plus the halt on the big one in custom house st, it does raise a query over another massive student accom development proceeding Having said that if there is a desire to return plenty of traditional housing in cathays and roath away from student beds then who knows! Personally I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
