Are there any plans to do up South Gate House? If they replaced the windows and jet washed the stone it would look alright.

But by heck, Southgate House needs a good scrub!

Re the bus station, is it intended for Cardiff Bus services or those heading beyond the city?
(And is Cardiff the largest UK city to have no bus station?)

I understand that it will be available to all the local bus operators however I understand that the Coach Station will now be south of the railway line as part of the multi-storey car park for Centeral Quay development.

Agree that Southgate House could do with a clean and maybe a cosmetic modernisation.

East gate house could be demolished and the new development there could go for the tallest building in wales record. They could also move the build to be in line with Hmrc, have a square in front of it and the hotel/pub on the corner of Westgate street will be enhanced via the view looking down wood street.

If they don’t knock it down, then clean it and modernise the window apertures.

Assume you mean Southgate House as Eastgate House on Newport Road has just been refurbished inside and out.

A couple of points in this article

https://www.business-live.co.uk/commercial-property/story-one-wales-most-successful-16414325

On the number 5 apartment plot 'Sitting behind No 4 on the Capital Quarter site, work will shortly commence on a 23-storey apartment building, with a glass rooftop floor giving spectacular views over Cardiff and the Bristol Channel. '

And for John Street 'Detailed planning has been obtained for a 109,000 sq ft first phase of grade office scheme, with construction work due to start in the summer.'

So seems like more confirmation that we'll get some progress on both progress in the next two to three months :)

We know that phase one will start this 'summer'. Real question is whether phase two will start before phase one is completed or not. Given that office space availability is so low, will this progress as soon as detailed planning permission is given?

Let's hope so, the question is whether they would start on that without first engaging with a hotel operator. It's not like the hotel is a separate building in phase 2, it's above the office.
