I believe they have permanently closed, their newer unit has been covered in the generic Mermaid Quay signage.

The last paragraph of this Walesonline story is fairly damning:
"Councillors on the licensing committee were due to review the updated policies at a meeting on Tuesday, September 1. But only seven out of 10 turned up to the meeting, so it legally couldn’t go ahead and was adjourned."

'Cardiff accused of favouring larger chains over independent bars and restaurants making city centre ‘stagnant’

In more positive news, Motel Nights in Canton and The Deep in the old Cafe Jazz (which apparently opened last week) both sound like excellent additions to the city's live music independent scene.

This meeting was streamed live and I watched it unfold as they were about to start but someone interrupted to say they couldn't proceed for the above reason. They then proceeded to ring around to try and make the numbers up. Fortunately they were not successful as that would have meant a panel made up of people that couldn't even pretend they'd read the documentation.

I expect the poor attendance was due to the fact people weren't notified until Thursday, just a couple of days before it was due to take place.

Considering the serious implications of this policy, it was an absolute shambles.

They must have updated the headline, the original, which is still cached on Google reads 'Six Revolution Bars to close - including Cardiff', although the content is again not specific.

The Evening Standard doesn't have Cardiff in its closure list. It says two in london - Clapham, America square (City of London) , Sunderland, Bath , Birmingham and Solihull.

I was in the Cardiff branch last week. Two people were in there.

Yeah, I tend to forget about the "Cuba" ones.

The Goat Major and Salt haven't re-opened this time round.
