There is a proposal to convert the disused toilet block in Cathays Park (behind the museum) into a cafe/restaurant. It will involve a substantial extension to the rear but the plans look quite good and it will be a bonus to bring that building back into beneficial use and add a bit of life to the civic centre which although beautiful can be quite sterile.

Interestin to see how they get around the covenants regarding commercial developments in Cathays Park. They've stymied previous attempts to re-use this building.

Looks like the student accommodation scheme on the old car dealership at East Bay Close is being reworked as 1&2 bed residential. Doesn’t mention build to rent, so I presume these are regular units to sell on the open market.

I remember that the original student scheme was the same H shaped footprint, but this seems to go up to 15 stories rather than the max of 9 in the student scheme.

This looks very good and not being student accommodation means this may now happen at the site! I love the way roof tops are being used as green socialising areas in many of the apartments proposed nowadays, and this particular development is very green! Not just the rooftop but around the buildings also - including under the flyover! !(go for it! give our important inner city insects a break! :) ) oh and great for residents also!
I wonder Will the proposed 132m student accom at customhouse st and the one at Fitzalan place (100m) re-emerge as non-student residential I wonder? - mind you neither of those will be quite so green

I think with the welsh government ban on new roads the best we will get is a bit of widening and a few slip roads around the roundabout on rover way and not the full duel carriageway that was planned years ago.

A new darts venue is planned for the old Co-op department store / Beanfreaks in Saint Mary Street. Sounds pretty good to me, although there were some councillor objections.

Looks a fun idea - and you can make sure your tattoos are on point next door first.
