Churchill Way Canal Feeder

Work is due to start on this in the next week or so. In order to begin the works the Capitol Centre's steel canopy needs to be removed so I understand this will be the first activity taking place before the hoarding goes up.

Good to see it starting, if a little later than summer 2021 as promised. I did wonder why there were grass mounds and picnic benches all over the area when I came home in July.

Hope we see more activity on the Canal Quarter masterplan this year. I don't think there's been anything since the initial application went in last May?

I know you have to start somewhere but I think this short stretch of open water is going to look a bit odd and out of place. Hopefully it won't be too long before it's extended.

I think it's best to think of it more as an elaborate water feature rather than a stretch of water. There's going to be a waterfall at the Queen Street end so it will be constantly flowing and won't be that deep according to the plans.

Some piles of heras fencing have appeared on the street today.

Long time lurker finally got round to posting!!!

Looks like works are starting up on site. Saw a few of the contractors marking out services this morning.

Also saw this in the news..

Looks like this will be a good location, and could really revitalize this corner of the city with the Canal Quarter development. I've been to the one in Sheffield and was impressed.

To true 'Cardiff Rocks' the Capitol centre is fighting back with various new ventures planned! This end of town is going to balance things out a bit when all proposed, completed. Oh and welcome! glad you could lurk no more and joined the forum! it's been pretty quiet of late but we're still here! and you are on board just as hopefully we start getting a bit busier!! :)

The road is now closed and the hoarding is going up, with very little room left for Pulse's outside area which is usually very busy at the weekend. Obviously Pulse stands to gain a lot in the long run but I can see it being a right pain in the wotsit for the next 6 months or so.
