Hi Nick - Now I'm sure you're a busy man but could I put in a request that may even get the echo assuming a development is proceeding!! ;) (cheeky i know and feel free to ignore!!) anyway... opposite the golden cross pub and on the other side of the road to the radisson blue and backing up to the railwayline is a small area of land that needs the New York 'super skinny ' http://432parkavenue.com/?state=home treatment in my book. Now, even I concede that 1300ft would look a little  out of place in cardiff. However surely taller than swansea's tower would suffice!! so 360ft - 30ish storeys - sorted, mines the penthouse!

Hi Paul, Yes - I walk past the site everyday and I am definately thinking about a design. Completely tied up at the moment delivering some affordable apartments on Watkiss way but for sure in the summer I will design a speculative tower for this site.

Do you know who the land owners are for that site?

Also, does anyone know who the land owners are for the old no-fit-state circus site across the road from Eversheds?

Many thanks,

Nick

I believe it's jointly owned by the Welsh Government and Cardiff Council. IIRC they purchased the land from Welsh National Opera as part of the funding package for the Wales Millenium Centre. They may have sold it on - but I don't remember hearing anything.

Cheers Nick - I look forward to seeing that, haven't got a clue who owns that small plot, but when I win the euro millions it will be me for wales's tallest!!

Regarding that other plot (no fit state) - considerably bigger, I'm looking forward to hearing what's proposed for that area there's been some drill testing activity there recently so maybe we'll hear something soon?

Is it just me or have websites become so arty that its now impossible to get any information out of them.
All designed for tablets so people can "finger" the lovely bright pictures on the train rather than find out the important stuff, like where the hell is Steak of the Art! I see the Bristol one but not the Cardiff version.

To be fair the Cardiff one isn't officially open yet.

The Cardiff Steak of Art is open, I was in there yesterday, very nice but unusual decor, friendly staff and the Sunday lunch was particularly tasty.

Official openings are often some time after it actually opens - so they get a few trial runs before the "VIPs", food critics etc arrive.

An application has gone in to demolish the plumb centre on City Road and turn it into student accommodation.

I think this would be a great development for the area as the plumb centre under utilises the site, and this new development would bring the street scape into a more coherent shape than it does at the moment.

Now i would like to see some more of the empty units on City Road be either demolished and/or developed.

such as the old bingo/bowling site, the unit next to Kaspa's ice cream and the old derelict windows shop/unit, and the site next to and including maplins.

bring it on.

Yes I agree, needs a bit of a sort out that end of City Road.

Is the Riley's unit still vacant?
