New bar/restaurant to open on Westgate Street called Barley and Rye. I believe it's going in the Glam nightclub building next to the New Theatre.

I think you mean Greyfriars Road not Westgate Street. It seems intended to be the first of a chain but I'm not sure Greyfriars is the right location for a craft beer / food outlet. It's more a cheap lager for students kind of place.

Yes, sorry got that wrong, Westgate Street would be more appropriate though! I did Google the name and could only find one other in Liverpool.

Not a bar but a restaurant. Punk panda has been shut for a few weeks. It didn't last long which is a shame as the few times I went in there I thought the food was excellent and the place had a real good vibe

I think it had the wrong vibe for the bay, especially mermaid quay as it felt too much like a bar and not enough like a bar/restaurant/place you would like to take your family. The whole black and white theme was very off putting and hence why i never went in. It came across more of a bar to me and is probably more suited to the city center IMO and may be why it failed.

The stupid name probably didn't help! What on earth was 'Punk Panda' meant to convey about the place or the product?

Meh, waste of a good building. It would make a decent live music venue.

By not going in you missed a treat because the food and ambience was excellent.

Fudging nora that Coyote Ugly concept looks like a 90's throwback already. I expect it to be hugely popular in Cardiff...
