Consultation currently open on the Welsh Government website regarding Radyr Station (tied in with the Metro Project)

The work includes:
a new 187 space car park
new waiting shelters
cycle storage facilities
a new ticket office.

http://gov.wales/topics/transport/rail/rail-projects/south-east-wales/radyr-station/?lang=en

Apparently there was a consultation on July 7, but the photos and plans are available at the link above.

There are also more woolly proposals for Llandaff station (but with no plans)

Welsh Government is conducting a single procurement to appoint an Operator and Development Partner (ODP) to undertake the following functions:
a. the operation of the Wales and Borders rail franchise;
b. the design and management of the development and implementation of capital works to deliver a Metro style service on the Core Valleys Lines and subsequent infrastructure management of the Core Valleys Lines;
c. the operation of rail and related aspects of the South Wales Metro service;
d. the design and development of further schemes to improve rail travel in Wales.

Great to see this essential future of south wales transportation moving in the right direction (pardon the pun!)

For reference, would the rail franchise be run as a not-for-profit entity? Good to see progress anyway, this is a real game changer!

Cardiff bay railway station has been named in the Victorian Society’s top 10 endangered buildings list.

I'm not sure it is considered in current metro plans, other than being in the way, but it is really in need of restoration.

THE planned South Wales Metro project has taken a step forward after the Welsh Government named the four companies bidding to run the scheme.

The Welsh Government’s economy and infrastructure secretary Ken Skates today named Abellio Rail Cymru, Arriva Rail Wales, KeolisAmey and MTR Corporate (Cymru) Ltd as preferred bidders for the service, which will see a network of trains, trams and buses running throughout the region
