In a fantasy world I'd quite like to flatten the whole of Wood St past Southgate House and extend the red paving. St David's House and Vue add nothing. The media Wales building is okay and Millenium Plaa has its charm but I think a proper entrance to the stadium would do wonders.

I quite like the building on the corner of Park St and Westgate St which could do with more visibility and if Stadium House was mothballed it would be a delight. Just one problem. Money.

I know plans are to demolish St Davids House in 2yrs ish? but in the meantime according to the central square masterplan construction will have commenced on this currently very miserable site.

Just wondering when we may hear something concrete (or preferably steel and glass!!) for the area. I know I'm slightly jumping the gun as there is potentially a large development to proceed with where marland house still is.

from rightacres central sq. website...

JUNE 2016

The thought of the European cup being hosted and tens of thousands of first time visitors trooping past this site is very worrying!! Yes I know they'd try again and hoard it up but far better to see work in progress.

That doesn't worry me as much as it should...as long as they clear the crap from there. We're not the only city with empty development sites. I remember being in Lisbon for Euro 2004 and the surrounding area around at least one of the stadiums wasn't perfect. Likewise Wembley over the years has had shite surroundings.

Some nice new hoardings with the Central Square masterplan in them would help though.

Motonovo Finance are moving to Central Sq and creating 600 jobs according to walesonline. I don't think that's been on here before?

I think its just taken them a long time to actually sign on the dotted line. Perhaps they were trying to knock down the rent a little. Each £1 a square foot would knock £70k off a year -paying perhaps 3.5 of their average employees.

Don't think it's in the plans to be taken down, just St. David's House and then the emoty plots behind it are being used, not that we can expect anything any time soon there.

Looks like it's an old design, but it's nice to see the plans. It's also interesting to see 2 towers and a "HQ building".

Moving this conversation over here.

This is the original design from back in 2014 I think. Since then they have pared back the proposal - getting rid of the wavy roof (value-engineering) and extending less far out into Central Square given the BBC HQ. I think they also propose widening the under-platform access rather than opening a new over-platform access route.

The WalesOnline article is a bit frustrating I must say. It takes images from 3 different versions of the scheme. The 2014 wavy-roof proposals from Wales Network Rail; the 2015 proposals with the flat roof from Wales Network Rail; and the canopy connecting the station and bus station that has featured in some of the masterplanning documents for Central Square. 3 different and mutually exclusive schemes presented as one!

Don't they recognise the images are different? That they show something different for the same location? ARGGH!
