I was led to believe that the cladding they originally installed is defective and leaking all over the place. So they're now trying to repair it and replace components.

Great find, they're really interesting!

Looks from those pictures that they would create a new railway terminal building, east of the existing (listed) building that could then tie-in with the new bus station. That makes far more sence and would mean less disruption to the station as they're building it.

I think the massing and the use of glass is a lot better as well.

Yeah those do look great. It's a real shame that we're getting something dramatically less ambitious after looking at all the proposed designs. It seems like the vast majority of people really don't like the latest plans. I know a few people on here quite like them but I'm personally hoping for a complete rethink.

Very interesting indeed, but surely these are now superceded by the plans we were viewing early in the week? or are they still a possibility?

One thing that really stands out in those pictures is that the building design shouts "Terminus Building". A few people have mentioned how the latest designs are safer and will age better, but we need to remember that this is supposed to be a transport interchange, not just standard office blocks. Something that stands out would surely be more desirable in this case. The current designs don't give any indication of a transport interchange at all.

These are part of the initial designs for the tendering process that foster and partners eventually won, so I can't see these being a anything but a dream.
