90 metres?!?!?

The growing skyline is a testament to Cardiff's fast growing economy!

The building had an increase in height was granted in Dec 2016
New height will be 87.645 meters this is up to the 25th floor but not roof height, so it will be up to 90meters

Here is the link
Look into document s and the east and west elevations got images with tower height

http://planning.cardiff.gov.uk/online-a ... APR_118668

That will be 90m from sea level, ground to roof height will be more like 80m
If you look at the ground floor it starts at 9.5m

That doesn't count in the dick-waiving stakes! The important height is from ground level to the top of the structure.

They are motoring at this site now, they must be very serious about piling starting in a couple of weeks. I walked to Central station to go home last night and they'd done loads

It'll be interesting watching this and the Watkins Jones one go up at the same time to see which progresses more quickly.

The number 4 office piling seems to be progressing well, but I've noticed something that doesn't add up to what we think is happening with the number 5 plot. They have almost cleared that site as well, but on the newly painted hoardings around the number 3 and number 4 site there's two types of plans. One is an artists impression of the whole site from the sky showing how the number 3 and 4 buildings will look, with each numbered and named. On that picture there's nothing for the residential tower site. On another image there's a sort of site plan with number 5 being a 95,000 sq ft office and not a residential tower.

This has all gone up in the last few weeks, so have they changed their mind based on market demand for offices ? Or is it just shit marketing, which they are prone to...just look at the Capital Quarter and J R Smart websites.

If they're placing the piling mat (as someone suggested) then they won't wait around too long before they start piling.

So the website indicates that the 81m tower has now started construction. Any updates on this? Anyone around the site today?

Also, this is on the plot adjacent to Callaghan Square isnt it? I always get this one and No.5 Capital Quarter mixed up, due to the similarity in proposed height.

No, this is the plot JR Smart sold to a student housing developer on Herbert Street, just the other side of the bridge from Callaghan Square.

It's under construction in that they are preparing for piling starting at the end of the month.

I work nearby and will update you all when things move on.

Plot 5 (the other side of the feeder canal) can't be far off finishing with the pile
driving, it might even be off the site now as I didn't hear it this afternoon.
Maybe not far from a crane turning up?
