Cardiff LDP Progress

PostSat Mar 04, 2017 3:48 am

Hello guys sorry for spamming these forums lately.

What is the progress for the LDP. Having been finally approved in June 2016, we're meant to be seeing 22,000 homes built over sites A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H.

'A' being the priority, has any progress started yet?

Is there progress at any of the sites? All documents can be found here: https://www.cardiff.gov.uk/ENG/resident ... fault.aspx

Yes, there's progress at some sites. The Homes at St.Edeyrn (over 1,000) started a while ago, and I think they ate starting on the first of the Plasdwr schemes soon.

Interesting, thanks! Will be intersting to see the one at Pontprennau make progress, I suspect there will be significant traffic problems on Junction 31 with 5000 new homes.

The state of this city - This junction's not even built yet and it's already got significant traffic problems...

Crazy isnt it. The widest piece of inner city road that Cardiff has is 2 lanes each way! The a4232, a470, m4, a48 and many of the single crriageways on the outer edges of the city are going to be crammed.

Every day I become more convinced that this is a part of a master plan to incorporate congestion charges into the city.

With that being said, even after the LDP has all homes built, I really dont think the congestion will be as bad as Bristol, Birmingham etc.. (i regularly drive all three)

I had to roughly draw this out as I couldn't believe the scale of it.

Its absolutely huge, and I'd be surprised if it actually gets completed in full. 6000 homes, thats enough for around 23,000 people

They're describing it as a £2billion "Garden City". It is significant.

It looks huge. It's about the size of danescourt, Pentrebane and fairwater combined
