New terminal building on the radar of Cardiff Airport
The airport will soon start formal discussions with potential investors to finance a new terminal which could cost hundreds of millions of pounds

Encouraging that they at least have plans to expand the airport, but Cardiff is still a long way behind Bristol airport.

An expanded airport that's serviced by the Metro will be vital for the economic development of the whole South Wales region.

Does Cardiff really need another terminal at great expense (tax payers)?

This was taken at check-in at the start of December around lunch time.
Not another soul in the whole check-in area. (just as well as the baggage computers had all crashed)

The press release today spoke of 50 destinations, which is true but 80% are summer charters.
The winter schedule uses small to very small planes and never any check in queues.

Bit of a joke of an Annual Report from the Airport btw. It says growth is "forecast to continue" and we have set "targets for continued growth in 2017". But any information on what those forecasts and targets actually are? No! Public companies have to set out forecasts for their earnings. State-owned companies should be even more transparent but seems they are not!

It hardly needs one right now and nobody including the airport are suggesting they do.
It's just a long term plan if (and it's a bloody big if) the airport crosses the 3 million passengers mark.

It's sensible to plan for the future even if your plans are way off, which is precisely why I'm as annoyed as Random
over the lack of transparancy. That's government for you! Transparency when it suits them.

I'd like to know what is forecast for the next few years based on landing long haul carries and what is possible
if they don't land them.

The curse of the North-South Welsh Air Link.

Better rail links between North and South Wales would be more ideal, but then that's too much to ask in these here times.

Service restored over the weekend with no disruption, very impressive.

This route does seem to be cursed for airlines!

Is this the 4th or 5th to close down after taking on the route? Maybe more to do with the status of the operators than the actual route. I hope that Eastern Airways make a success of it or at least don't close down within a year after taking this contract!

IMHO investment in a better North-South rail service would be a better return than this vanity air route. Wasn't the subsidy running at something around £50-£75 per passenger on this air route?
