Nice use of the space but I can't really see it working long term to be honest. There's a lot of competition in town restaurant-wise, and adult crazy golf seems a bit too niche to me. Also I can't see them getting a late enough licence for it to be profitable as a bar.

If they price it right I think it would work. People do seem more into 'experiences' now than just bars and pubs. The place I think won't last is that PINS bowling place that's opened. Doesn't seem to have lots of positive reviews and appears very expensive (£15 for a game of bowling which is double what super bowl are charging around the corner)

The thing about "experiences" is that repeat business isn't that regular, and this will need a lot of repeat business in order to sustain the running costs. I'd imagine the rates alone would be substantial on a unit that size.

I'm not as pessimistic as others. The mini-golf in Saint Davids seems to do well and there could be a market for a mored adult orientated version. We shall see.

And a Merry Christmas to you and all reading!

With this Welsh restaurateur keen to open a restaurant in Wales I cant help but think this is very good news! and perhaps the perfect location! and with the Cameo club living on in Roath, even better.

There is an application in for change of use of 11/12 Church Street to a restaurant on the ground floor and commercial on the upper floors. This is where 10 Feet Tall are currently based and the Cornish Bakehouse.

I'm not sure if this means 10 feet Tall is moving or closing. It doesn't say who the restaurant operator is. The Cornish Bakehouse is always rammed so I would be surprised if they are not opening elsewhere.

I heard a whisper than 10 Feet Tall was for sale a couple of months ago.

Have to say, never seen The Cornish Bakehouse rammed myself. Perhaps it's just busy at certain times of the day like lunchtime? In which case it might not be enough. Gotta sell a lot of pasties to pay the rent and rates on that place.

I work about 100 yards from there and at lunchtime (admittedly the only time I'm likely to go past) there is always a reasonably sized queue.

The application is very specific about the ground floor and basement being a restaurant rather than just general A3 usage which leads me to believe they have an occupier lined up. Time will tell. The fact that they are proposing commercial for the upper floors also suggests that 10 feet tall are definitely not staying there - perhaps the lease is up for renewal and the rent is a bit too salty? There is quite a lot of that going on at the moment.
