Thought this could probably do with it's own thread now that it looks like being a serious proposal.

Details can be found here:

I love how the architects described Lloyd George Avenue as "under utilised" and "over engineered". Couldn't agree more with that!

Anyway, if they intend on proceeding with a high-spec quality building then I think this would make a most welcome addition to Cardiff.

That looks like a really, really nice building. Hoping it won't get watered down by timid provincial planners or "value-engineered" into mediocrity.

Cool looking building. I'm not a museum fan but as someone that works in the medical device industry, I may actually visit this one!

Nice building but I doubt too many people will be troubling the staff there, shame we're losing an international tourist attraction in the Dr. Who Experience and gaining a rather dull museum.

From their facebook posts it seems they are looking at 2022 to open the Museum in Cardiff!

"The Museum of Military Medicine: We're looking at date in 2022. Expect some announcements on this in the autumn."

I wonder if there will be a shift in location especially with the Red Dragon Centre apparently now the Council's preferred site for the new Arena?

Even without the arena I thought the Travelodge was planning to expand possibly onto the site that the museum was going to be built on?

If it is at a different site then it'll be the 3rd proposed location for it.

I thought I'd read on here somewhere that the Travelodge extension is on land it already owns (or something similar to that).

The Travelodge extension is coming off the opposite side from what I understand.

Why a military medicine museum in Cardiff? Seems a bit odd. Am I missing something? A maritime museum would have been better, but I understand that moved to Swansea.
