Using this building height calculator, I’m gonna guess around about 120m

Is there a timeline for this development? The site was acquired almost 3 years ago so I wonder what stage it's currently at.

I would love to see this tower appearing in that gap - although very valid points re Porters so not all positive. However the graphic shown on the website is absolutely way out! I think the approximation of a height of 120m would be pretty close. Therefore shorter that the proposed watkins jones tower also shown. Whereas the Harlech Court tower appears to be about 1/3 higher? A minor point maybe - but it makes me wonder how serious this all is? Or are we going to get a 170m tower - unlikely

Judging solely by the company's website they seem to be locally based developers that have delivered a few medium-sized schemes. This would certainly be a big jump for them but given the way Rightacres has gone from zero to hero in the space of a couple of decades you can't write the possibility off.

Are we saying the music venue is going to be removed? Or just built upon? Would seem rather insensitive to just trample over yet another music venue..

Hasn't this development of Harlech Court been around for a while? I think this development was mentioned on here a few years ago.

Not sure if this forum has triggered something but Porters in the last hour posted the below on Facebook:

"Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus.

So...

Our lease at Harlech Court runs until Oct 23rd 2022.

For us, and at least until then, it is, or will be, business as ‘usual’. Therefore we hope that our friends will continue to make the most of our range of activities and events, and the inclusive and friendly atmosphere of Porter’s...once the pandemic permits

If October 23rd 2022 is when we say goodbye, then so be it. It’s been a blast, but we do of course hope that between us we can find a new building to call home. We would naturally welcome any suggestions of possible buildings from our friends.

Perhaps Cardiff Council could also join with us in helping to find a suitable empty building that does not sit under the cloud of possible demolition or redevelopment, so that we can continue to be a place of joy, as well as an outlet and source of employment for all the wonderful and talented staff, and musicians, theatre makers, performers and creatives of this marvellous capital city, who provide us all with the things that make life worth living.

Please note, we have a good working relationship with our landlord who has been decent , courteous, supportive, transparent and honest throughout.

Hope you all are as well as can be and to see you very soon. It's going to be one heck of a party!

Love always,

Dan and all The Porter's Family x"

What's with this trend of keeping a small part of the original buildings and developing a huge modern building on top? Is this done in many other UK cities?

What's happened over at Guildford Terrace is an absolute travesty - they may as well just tear down the frontages now.

Dude that graphic showing the elevation of the proposed tower is way way off. The picture shows a tower which is at least 180m tall. You would have thought a company going for the tallest building in wales would be able to correctly picture their plans.

Either that or i’m wrong and each individual storey is twice as high as other residential towers.
