That's stunning Ash !

I miss living in a skyscraper. I was lucky enough to live on the 69th floor of an 84 floor building in my time in Dubai and I loved it. Being in a cluster of similar buildings and the area having a high density of people meant we had loads of facilities around is. I rarely used my car on weekends because I didn't need to, most things I needed were in walking distance, including a metro station so I could get to other areas of the city easily.

That's the point, most modern cities in the world above a certain population are now having these towers.

It's going to be discussed any minute now on this webcast if anyone's interested in the views of the committee.

Interestingly the women are tending towards refusal, and the men are tending towards approval...

The planning committees comments were ridiculous. Like a bunch of pensioners. Iona Gordon doesnt want the application approved becuase it may be visible from Thompson Park!

Her comments about Cardiff Castle were bizarre. The chair seems very positive about tall buildings (apparently there will be 3 or 4 more of a similar scale???) and even got a bit angry at the negative comments towards the building, and with Garry Hunt confessing his love of skyscrapers, I think we can expect a few more high-rises around that area. The committee seems overall very pleased with the prospect of a cluster of tall buildings on that side of the city.

Great news.

I hope they get a move on quickly though, we've been here before with Seren/Glass Needle, Bayscape etc.
Approvals for relatively tall buildings and none have come off.

We are due some luck, but I'm optimistic as ever with these things !

These dodgy Councillors are in charge of planning! Some were like this building is elegant, beautiful extraordinary. Iona Gordon said if you can see this skyscraper from Thompson Park, it must be refused! The chair is this guy http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-18107947

"granted"

Remind me again, how tall and the number of floors is the application for?

Didn't they alter it a few times...

found it!

Iona Gordan even admitted in this meeting that she has a big personal problem with tall buildings. Surely people with initial bias should not be on the planning committee in the first place? If each individual planning application is to be judged on its own merits and downfalls, how does it help to have somebody that is a self-confessed hater of tall buildings on the committee? Their mind will already be made up before the application is even submitted! The chair even made the point of reminding everybody that tall buildings are to be judged not just on the fact they are tall, but the benefits they bring.
