It can be hard to get a proper summary with all the various subforums on Skyscrapercity!
The city is growing pretty fast population-wise so I'm assuming that that is reflected in current construction activity? Are cities like Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Leicester seeing such development?
Manchester is really kicking off! There are a lot of high-rise developments either underway or in the pipeline. This "Northern Powerhouse" seems to be a lot more than a political soundbite, with a huge number of financial and creative media jobs. There's also a lot of activity gaining pace in Liverpool, particularly around the old docks, with a few billion pounds being spent.
Bristol seems to be lagging behind to me. There are a noteable schemes underway, but those seem to be taking years to come to fruition and nothing like the scale of the proposals for Cardiff. There have been some recent announcement around the Temple Meads area, but these are the sort of devepements that have been spoken about for years. I did hear recenetly that Bristol wants to abondon its anti-tall-buildings policy and permit developments over 60m (current limit). I've also heard that some off the back of that policy shift is thinking of a 40-odd-storey development, but nothing for certain.
