Interesting application for Trade Street between Callaghan Square and the river -
http://planning.cardiff.gov.uk/online-a ... 766433.pdfThe application is for 97 apartments in an L shaped block incorporating some of the existing older buildings. It's been called South Central and it appears to be an attempt by the developer to create a sort of urban, edgy, city centre neighbourhood presumably aimed at creative types and/or young professionals. At least thats what the DAS says.
The plans actually look quite good and build upon the Council's stated aims for this area. There are some industrial style nice buildings here and in and around the Brains site across Penarth Road.
At some stage the area between Trade Street and the river must be opened up as well. At the moment there are some really shitty corrugated steel warehouses, a storage place and a kids play centre.
