if it's about Cardiff.. Sport, Entertainment, Transportation, Business, Development Projects, Leisure, Eating, Drinking, Nightlife, Shopping, Train Spotting! etc.. then we want it here!
File under 'I'll believe it when it happens'. Plans to harness the tidal power of the Severn are as old as the hills and have never (so far) come to anything.
Interesting story in the Telegraph. Suggests agreement between the company and national grid. I don't really know how these work but it seems optimistic of government approval. They also claim the costs are far better that Hinkley Point (don't get me started on that one) the problem perhaps is oddly enough the duration of the project. It would have a lifetime of 120 years meaning government would have to be thinking very long term to see the economy of it and put in the up front investment.
As an aside connections into the 275kV grid are very easy with plenty of spare capacity. South Wales steel plants mostly gone, but Grid connections still there. Aberthaw coming to the end of its life as well.
